This claim is false; biologically, a child as young as 10 years old can get pregnant. It is indeed a rare occurrence for a young child to get pregnant. Pregnancy can only occur if the individual is ovulating, which, according to the NHS, can start as early as the age of 10. However, pregnancies at the age of 10 can have many birth issues and negative outcomes. The University of Maryland School of Medicine states that through their research on the 90,000 deliveries of individuals between the ages of 10 and 19. They found that the younger the pregnant individual is, the higher the risk of complications. "We found 10- to 13-year-olds had a 56 percent higher risk of preterm delivery and a 32 percent higher risk of cesarean delivery compared to those ages 14 to 17,”(Goodman). To conclude, it is possible for a ten-year-old to get pregnant. However, it has too many risks and connections to abuse.

This claim is incorrect. From an article by Live Science Plus, they state that the youngest girl ever to give birth was 5 years old. Girls are capable of being pregnant when their ovulation begins. Even though this case is extremely rare, it is still possible. Dr. Melissa Simion who is a professor and obstetrician-gynecologist at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, highlights that you can start ovulating before starting your first period. Even though the risks for a 10 year old carrying a baby to term is large, it is still possible.

This claim is false. According to planned parenthood, girls can get pregnant if they have started ovulating. Girls start ovulating about two weeks before their first period. This can happen to girls as young as eight years of age. The claim that 10 year olds can’t get pregnant comes from the Bluesky App. This app is a form of social media that anyone can post on and therefore, misinformation can easily be spread. The claim had no evidence or sources provided, making it false information. According to BBC news, a 10 year old girl in Paraguay showed up to hospital 20-weeks pregnant. The article goes on to talk about her story and how she ended up pregnant so young. This is a first hand story with evidence from a reliable news source. Lastly I found statistics about adolescent pregnancy from the World Health Organization, proving that 10 year olds can get pregnant.
