The general consensus is that yes, humans will eventually go extinct. And it is debated on the timeline of said extinction. There are multiple studies that you could look at for data on this topic (linked below) but my main focus was the platform. Medium isn't a reputable source, the article you linked included emojis and other unprofessional images and worse usage. A writer for Medium published the article, "Can we trust Medium articles" in 2022 and the conclusion was no. 

Googling the term NTHE resulted in nothing scientific, Google linked me to a couple of TV show clips on YouTube. But if there was evidence of human extinction it would have been higher on Google's result page. 

On Google Scholar, the search for NTHE provides nothing on human extinction. So it's unlikely that this topic is one that originated from a scientific paper or study.

So it is false that extinction is not near for the human race, but it is going to happen at some point? Nice work finding lots of research on this topic.
