This claim is false, merely a rumor that started as a joke. The earliest instance of this rumor was on Reddit with its users wondering how Trump would respond if Canada threatened to turn off all electricity in the United States. This joke is targeted at American conservatives, specifically Christian conservatives.

To determine the validity of this claim I checked two popular politcal fact-checking websites: Politifact and Snopes. According to both websites, the joke started due to the seeming lack of interest in Canada's potential to diminish America's electricity usage. While it's clear that this misquote started as nothing more than a meme, it quickly spread across all social media platforms, with many believing it to be the truth. However, through some quick research I can say with confidence that the Press Secretary of the White House did not say this.

I agree with your factcheck. You were able to correct the original claim with sources that show that the person was making a joke. The sources you found are reliable, and help provide more information on the topic.

This claim is untrue. According to PolitiFact, a reputed website based around verifying claims run by the Poynter Institute, posts with this tagline were flagged by Meta as false. The quote may have originated from an Irish Star article in which Leavitt's words were misattributed. Moreover, according to Snopes, another reputable fact-checking website, this claim may have originated as a satirical post on Reddit.

This claim is false because White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt never said 'Jesus didn't have electricity'. The rumor started as a joke online and quickly spread as misinformation. Fact-checking sources like Snopes and PolitiFact have debunked it.
