Generative AI in video game remastering is not going which is demonstrated by Tomb Raider 2.

Anyway genAI in video games is going great. The AI upscale remaster of Tomb Raider 2 turned these mysterious instruments into a touchtone phone, complete with the classic R button! It's really important that we burn down the world so we can do this.

In Tomb Raider II remaster, a case was observed where a giant telephone keypad-like texture was observed within the in-game world. This raised a lot of argument among commenters and gamers, with some trying to justify the bug as being due to AI upscale techniques used during remastering. But what was later discovered was that this texture was taken from a presently available stock image, not created by AI.

The claim that AI upscaling transformed unusual instruments into a touchtone phone in the remastered Tomb Raider II is false. The appearance of the telephone keypad was due to the application of a stock image and not AI processing.

I like how you explained this remastering error as a stock image issue and not AI related. Helpful for those not fully versed in this topic.

While technically this statement is opinion based since the source seemed to come from a speaker making a simple post about how much better he feels that Tomb Raider 2 has been. I couldn't find anything specific on the updating using AI of Tomb Raider as a game itself.

However some articles researched in the topic of what generative AI can do and how it can enhance the development of games, much like Tomb Raider, including some of the following, "voice synthesis, procedural generation,  generative music, sound effects, dialogue generation, dynamic storytelling, etc." . I also have attached an article from Fandomwire, summarizing how now future AI is going to be an essential in the video game process.

Can't be true or false (Opinion, poem, etc.)

This is a very good comment. First person I've seen to post two different sources in their response.
