One obvious sign there’s a big protest on the horizon: Reinforced fencing is going up around the White House again.

Other articles, such as the one from the ABC7 news, "Anti-scale fencing going up near White House ahead of Saturday's protest against Trump" also include video's of the barrier. They state that this wall with help to work with the Metropolitan Police Department to help keep citizens safe with the planned upcoming protest. ABC7 also refers to the Hands Off website which is a primary source, the group that helps organize the protests. From The Hill, highly ranked for reliability as a US news source, writer Lauren Irwin states that, "locals are bracing for upset supporters"(Irwin) during the preparation for election day. This implies that they are preparing for an upcoming protest. All of these articles are highly credible and have proof of a barricade being built, and protests being formed, which support the original claim. The poster, bluesea, has a history of relaying information and is ranked #5 on News Detective. The video they use as evidence also has a date stamp and clearly shows a barrier being set up around the white house.

From what I read in this article, this is true. This article by The Hill talks about how even though the White House is open to protests, during the George Floyd protests, they put up a new fence. They even blocked some streets during these protests. The second article I found, which is in The Jerusalem Post, states how pro-Palestinian protesters were on the fence of the white house protesting. Nothing in this article stated how they put up extra fencing because of this protest. From these articles, I can say yes it's an obvious sign that a big protest is on the horizon. George Floyd was a bigger protest and this was the reason why the White House put up fencing and blocked streets.

I feel like there has been a lot of political uncertainty within a very short amount of time, very similar to the protests surrounding George Floyd in 2020. But the White House using this fencing does not inherently mean a protest is absolutely going to happen. There have been many cases where the US has "defended" federal buildings in the case of political unrest, and nothing has happened, so I saw this claim is hard to say that a protest is obvious.

From what I have read from ABC7 news this is true that the white house is taking precautions ahead of the protest planned to be around the White House. This is to insure the safety of protesters and law enforcement who are expected to be involved as well. based on previous protests heavier action is being taken to ensure safety for everyone. The protest or being organised by a group called Hands Off and they're message for this demonstration is to serve as a direct message to president Trump and his "All out assault on our government and economy".

The quote that you chose does convey the sense of social disturbance that leads to protests. When you mention the safety of law enforcement expected to be involved, is there a better quote from law enforcement stating their involvement?

Although there is little information on the user who from the BSKY post, I believe this is true. The article on ABC7 News cites that "a nationwide day of action by HandsOff2025.com plans to rally at the Washington Monument starting at noon" (posted April 3, 2025). When you navigate to the HandsOff website, they announce "Mass Mobilization" dated to April 5th and a call to the American people to fight against what Trump and Musk have done in office. This poses a high correlation to the security fencing recently placed around the White House -- a similar response seen in the BLM protests (2020/21) and the recent Election Day (Nov. 2024).

I like how you really investigated the Hands Off website, that is a good primary source. I also like you addition of BLM protests and how the beginning of those protests are similar to what is happening in this context. Are there other examples like BLM protests and election day, where they put up similar barriers? Also, would there be an example of a time they put up barriers even if there was not an expected protest?
