We’ve become so desensitized to corruption that the Attorney General who spent years lobbying on behalf of Qatar approved a private jet gift from Qatar and it’s not even in the top 10 scandals of the week.

The claim that the U.S. Attorney General, Pam Bondi, approved a private jet gift from Qatar to former President Trump has been popular on social media recently. Using the SIFT method, I found that this claim is actually credible and supported by multiple sources. Bondi was a registered foreign agent for Qatar in 2019. As Attorney General, she signed off on Qatar’s $400 million luxury jet gift to Trump. So yes, this claim is true.

While it may be true that President Trump received a private jet from the government of Qatar with Pam Bondi's approval, the generalization that Americans are desensitized to corruption is largely untrue. Trump told the media that he plans to use it as a replacement for Air Force 1. While such a lavish foreign gift may be questionable ethics-wise and may qualify as a scandal for some people, I wouldn't say Americans are okay with it. The Democrats are angry about it, as they would be anyway, but then Laura Loomer, one of Trump's top advisers, condemned it on X.
