Donald Trump is not the lowest rated president in American history. While his approval rating may be relatively low, Trump's average approval rating during his first term was 41%, with a low of 34% as his final approval rating. His lowest approval rating was 29% in January 2021. As of June 2025 (Trump's second term), his approval rating is 38%. Presidents Harry S. Truman and Richard Nixon do have the lowest final approval ratings of 32% and 24%.

Gallup researchers put this theory to the test and have seen that compared to post WW2 president's he has had the worst ratings. However the claim states " ever" so because pre-WW2 Presidents' Harry Truman and RIchard Nixon had lower ratings than Trump, this claim is heavily exaggerated.

This claim that Donald Trump is the lowest rated president in the United States is completely false. He is considered as one of the lower rated presidents by many people, but the claim that he is by himself the worst US president is false. The link provided above does not even classify him as the worst US president, but rather just shines light on his lower approval rating by the public. A low approval rating also does not equal to being the lowest rated president. When I look online at some of the lowest rated presidents in the U.S. I'm able to see that a lot of the ratings are based on differing criteria's making them very opinion based. However, when looking at general ratings which take all the different criteria's of a president into consideration and the overall approval and disapproval rates of the public, Trump is ranked amongst the bottom but the lowest rated president is generally James Buchanan. Mostly due to his part to play in the American Civil War.
