Ukraine became a de facto US colony after the US backed 2014 coup. In 2022 Joe Biden instigated Ukraine to shell the Donbas in an effort to draw Russia in and then sanction them into regime change. Why does Trump harp on Zelensky when Biden caused and continued the war? 1/2

Ukraine’s 2014 Revolution (the “Euromaidan”) resulted from widespread domestic protests against President Yanukovych’s abandonment of an EU association agreement in favor of closer ties with Russia, as reported in this Reuters timeline. Parliament voted to remove Yanukovych following violent clashes, and no credible evidence shows a U.S. “colony” was installed—Ukraine has remained a sovereign republic with its own elected governments ever since.

Some sources suggest that the war was provoked by the West's actions, such as the push for NATO expansion, which aggravated Russia's security concerns. However, these perspectives do not support the specific claim that President Biden instigated Ukraine to shell Donbas as a deliberate provocation.

In fact, in statements from a 2022 White House Press release, Biden asserts "We’re calling out Russia’s plans loudly and repeatedly, not because we want a conflict, but because we’re doing everything in our power to remove any reason that Russia may give to justify invading Ukraine and prevent them from moving." Biden goes on to say "We also will not send troops in to fight in Ukraine, but we will continue to support the Ukrainian people."

This claim complexly conflates U.S. support for Ukraine’s defense with conspiratorial motives that are unsubstantiated by reputable reporting or official documents.

Seconding this answer. Appreciate the context provided about the 2014 Revolution. The White House's Press release is also critical in clarifying the US' official stance.
While rival interpretations and counter-allegations exist about who initiated the shelling in Donbas, no verifiable document or transcript can be found that lends credence to the claim that the US goaded Ukraine into shelling the Donbas region.
