It's true that Adam Schiff did appear on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert shortly before it was announced that the show would be canceled, as reported by sources like Fox News, and that his website confirms.

Whether or not he was 'mercilessly trolled' in an opinion, but judging from the social media commentary linked in the Gateway Pundit article that this claim references, it does appear there was criticism of Schiff's suggestion that The Late Show was being canceled for political, not financial reasons.

While it is true that Senator Adam Schiff was on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert show, this claim is misleading due to lack of evidence for him to be "mercilessly trolled." Stephen Colbert announced on July 17, 2025, that his show would end in May 2026. Senator Adam Schiff was a scheduled guest that night and discussed political topics, including concerns about the show’s cancellation possibly being politically motivated. Additionally, Colbert's show was not "failing," and remains as a top-rated late-night program. The cancellation was due to financial reasons.
