The evidence provided in the linked video is quite weak. The speaker argues that Gazans are photographing children with genetic disorders that cause severe weight loss and trying to pass them off as starving due to Israeli occupation. His "proofs" are that photos often show only one underweight child rather than an entire population of underweight people, and that images of starvation typically feature children, not adults.

This argument contradicts reports by major global organizations like the IPC (Integrated Food Security Phase Classification), which warned in July 2025:

"The worst-case scenario of Famine is currently playing out in the Gaza Strip. Conflict and displacement have intensified, and access to food and other essential items and services has plummeted to unprecedented levels. Mounting evidence shows that widespread starvation, malnutrition, and disease are driving a rise in hunger-related deaths. Latest data indicates that Famine thresholds have been reached for food consumption in most of the Gaza Strip and for acute malnutrition in Gaza City."

This assessment is echoed by sources including the World Food Programme, the New York Times, and Reuters.

Beyond contradicting established reporting, the flimsy argument that frequent depictions of children as starvation victims proves the famine is fabricated falls apart under scrutiny. NPR notes that "kids are even more at risk of starvation than adults because of the demanding physiological requirements for growth and fewer energy stores." Similarly, UNICEF reports that "Children affected by stunting [impaired growth and development] begin their lives at a marked disadvantage: they may never attain their full possible height, and their brains may never develop to their full cognitive potential." Both facts suggest that the effects of starvation present themselves more obviously in children, both physically and developmentally, making them a key demographic to center when trying to report on famine conditions (and visually showing others the results of those conditions).

This claim is misleading. As of August 2025, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has warned that Gaza is experiencing a worst-case scenario of famine, with two of three famine thresholds (extreme food scarcity and acute malnutrition) already met. The UN reports that families, especially women and children, face deadly risks just to obtain food. Over 175 people, including 93 children, have died from starvation and malnutrition. While Israel denies a policy of starvation, aid groups and international agencies attribute the crisis to restricted humanitarian access and decades of blockade.
