As far as I can tell, this isn't quite accurate. The claim is that Edward Coristine was assaulted by two teens because he was harassing a teenage girl, but this version of events contradicts the police report.
Politico references that report in its coverage, noting that "Coristine told the officers the assailants approached him outside his vehicle while he was with a woman, Emily Bryant — identified in the report as his 'significant other' [and not a 15-year-old] — and made a comment about taking it, according to the report. He told officers that he got the other person into the vehicle just before he was attacked."
An update from NBC Washington supports this account: two of the teens involved were charged with unarmed carjacking, backing the version of events described in the police report.
Interestingly, Elon Musk offered yet another version of events on X, claiming that "a gang of about a dozen young men tried to assault a woman in her car at night in DC" and that "A Doge team member saw what was happening, ran to defend her and was severely beaten to the point of concussion, but he saved her." Major reporting doesn't really frame it this way.
