While Tyler Robinson has been accused of killing Charlie Kirk, widely reported across multiple outlets, there isn't strong evidence so far that Robinson was a MAGA Republican. According to the BBC, Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray told reporters Tuesday that Robinson’s mother said her son had recently shifted left politically, “becoming more pro-gay and trans-rights orientated.” Authorities also said Robinson had been dating his transgender roommate, who was transitioning from male to female. (Trump and the MAGA movement's open hostility to trans identity has long been documented.)
The Associated Press reported that although authorities have not confirmed a motive, Robinson wrote in a text to his partner about Kirk: “I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can’t be negotiated out.” The message suggests Robinson’s views directly opposed Kirk’s, a longtime Trump ally and author of The MAGA Doctrine.
In addition, the MAGA shirt Robinson is seen wearing in the photo shared on Bluesky appears to have been digitally altered.
