This is not correct. First of all NATO is not an offensive organisation, but a defense organisation. Countries join NATO by choice, to ensure safety in their own country.
You can’t blame them. Simply look what Russia/USSR did to Eastern EU countries after WW2, later Afganistan, Georgia, Chechenia
