Antifa thought ICE CUBE’s Truck was ICE so they fire-bombed Ice Cube’s tour bus.

Although Ice Cube's tour bus was damaged by fire in Downtown Portland, all of the articles I have read state that they don't know who did it and it is still under investigation. Police and firefighters also claim that it was not a targeted attack. So your claim that Antifa mistook Ice cubes tour bus for ICE is false from what I have read.

Good point, I also saw the same thing when I was looking into it. It seems like a lot of the confusion came from that original TikTok video that claimed it was an Antifa attack without any proof. I think you could have brought up how the rumor started spreading on X and TikTok before any official statements came out, which made people assume things. The KPTV and OregonLive articles are solid sources since they’re local and include direct statements from Portland fire officials, but also important to know that both said the cause was still under investigation. I think that if you add that part would make your fact-check even stronger.

My overall findings were that while Ice Cube’s tour bus had fire damage, authorities were still investigating the cause of the fire. The idea that the bus was firebombed originated from a video posted to TikTok on September 23rd showing damage to a tour bus claiming it belonged to the rapper Ice Cube. Koin news posted about the incident September 25th explaining the incident factually and claimed that the fire was extinguished and that the cause of the fire was under investigation. Then later on X.com one person posted about the incident suggesting that it could have been an act of violence caused by a leftist group because they may have mistook the rapper Ice Cube's name on the bus for the government agency ICE. After that post someone else claimed that it was the group known as Antifa, a leftist group in Portland. The TikTok video is biased because the user was already assuming that the rapper owned the bus and that it was firebombed. The Koin article contains minimal bias but may contain some misinformation because the people interviewed are unsure who the tour bus belongs to while other parts of the article claim that the tour bus belongs to Ice Cube. The two Twitter posts are not reliable sources but I wanted to include them to show the progression of the claims and how they add on to each other to create a false narrative. As stated before it is not even necessarily confirmed by news outlets that the bus was being used for Ice Cube’s tour. To further investigate this claim I also looked at Trump sending troops to Portland after Antifa attacks. On September 22, one day before the incident, the White House released a fact sheet about Trump designating Antifa as a terrorist organization. As of yet, Trump has been unable to send national guard troops into Portland, Oregon due to a judge ruling against him undermining the claim that he has sent troops to Portland.

This is a really strong breakdown. I really like how you showed the timeline of how the rumor spread from TikTok to X and turned into something completely different. It really shows how misinformation builds layer by layer. You could make it even stronger by pointing out how local news outlets like KPTV or OregonLive confirmed it wasn’t a targeted attack, which helps close the loop on where the false claim ends. Also thought it was nice when you mentioned the bias, a lot of people skip that part.

After checking multiple local and national sources, this claim turns out to be false. Ice Cube’s tour bus did catch fire in downtown Portland on September 25, 2025, but according to official reports from both KPTV Fox 12 Oregon and OregonLive, the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Police and fire crews said they don’t believe it was a targeted attack, and there’s no evidence that anyone connected to Antifa or any political group was involved. The rumor that “Antifa mistook Ice Cube’s bus for ICE” started from a TikTok video that showed the damaged bus and made assumptions with no verified proof. From there, a few posts on X (Twitter) and Bluesky exaggerated the story, claiming Antifa was behind it, but again, no credible outlet or law enforcement statement supports that. The second part of the claim, saying that Trump sent troops to Portland after Antifa attacks, is also not true. While Trump did issue a statement designating Antifa as a “domestic terrorist organization” around that time, a federal judge blocked his attempt to send troops into Portland. BBC News and the White House fact sheet confirm that no deployment happened. Overall, this claim mixes a real event with false political rumors to make it sound dramatic. There’s no supportive evidence of Antifa involvement or any troop deployment by Trump.
