The Trump administration has been asserting that Christians in Nigeria are being targeted by Islamic militants. There is data that 100,000 Christians in Nigeria and 60,000 moderate Muslims were killed by jihadist groups since 2009. Boko Haram is one of the jihadist groups responsible for violence in Nigeria, infamous for kidnapping the Chibok girls in 2014. Trump has threatened to intervene in the midst of violence in Nigeria, asserting a desire to stop the persecution of Christians.
