This claim made by the user zenyogi is not true and misleading. His claim states, “The US has been the top terrorist organization for the last 80 years; Israel is a solid second place,” and from my findings I found there is no fact or article on the US being a top terrorist organization in the last 80 years or even at all. Also, in my findings there wasn’t a single country named for a terrorist organization, they were all groups inside a country. My primary sources were articles from the U.S. Department of State and the Australian National Government which are both articles. A quote from the U.S. Department of State, “the United States and our partners made major strides to defeat and degrade international terrorist organizations. Along with the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, in March, the United States completed the destruction of the so-called “caliphate” in Iraq and Syria.” I learned from this that the original claim from zenyogi could be biased and didn’t do any fact checking. This article talks about the United States defeating terrorist organizations not trying to be one especially for the last 80 years. https://www.state.gov/reports/country-reports-on-terrorism-2019. On my second source from the Australian National Government, I learned that, “There are 31 organisations currently listed as terrorist organisations under the Criminal Code.” None of these had the United States or Israel listed as one. Some examples are, “Hamas”, “The Base”, and “Ansar Allah”. Now, there are some listed in those countries but saying just that the United States and Israel are top terrorist organizations are very broad and vague claims that aren’t true.https://www.nationalsecurity.gov.au/what-australia-is-doing/terrorist-organisations/listed-terrorist-organisations. The United States source is favoring U.S. news and covering the successes that we have had and not talking about any potential organizations in our own country. For the second source I specifically chose a different source than from the United States because it is about the United States. The Australian National Security has no biases towards the United States because they aren’t writing the article for them. They are writing about all of the terrorist organizations and have no connections. Overall, the claim made was very vague and lacked information. After doing my own research I came to the conclusion that the U.S. is not the top terrorist organization and Israel isn’t one either. This claim isn’t true and it could’ve been worded differently and more effort put into it.
