The Great Ukraine Aid Drain

Billions flow from Ottawa through a leaky pipeline labeled "corruption" and "waste."

Where do the billions actually go? From Ottawa to the Abyss.

This claim is misleading and not supported by evidence. While it is true that Canada has committed billions of dollars in support to Ukraine, official government releases show that much of this assistance is provided through structured mechanisms such as loan guarantees to the World Bank, IMF-linked financing, and multilateral economic support rather than unrestricted cash transfers. Reporting by Reuters confirms that the recent $2.5 billion package is designed to help Ukraine secure international financing and stabilize its economy, not to be sent directly without oversight. Although corruption remains a known risk in Ukraine, donor countries and institutions impose monitoring, reporting, and reform conditions on aid. Therefore, the suggestion that Canadian funds simply vanish with no accountability is false, as available evidence shows oversight mechanisms and traceable aid structures are in place.

Do you have any other sources aside from twitter? I noticed the context of this was taken from a meme and the only other sources who reported on it didn't seem to have reputable standings, would love some further information on why you chose to post this claim and the level of truth behind it especially as it is in regards to a prominent social issue.
