1. Overall, what I have found from multiple trusted sources so far is that the FBI is still investigating this situation and, as of January 11th, has had full control of the case. Multiple sources have said that the ICE agent was trying to open the passenger's door, and in response, she reversed her vehicle and then put it in drive, which then followed three gunshots (CBS News and ABC).
2. TikTok of actual video- Both of the news sources that I had found said the story originated from social media. With a few quick searches, I found the video that the ICE agent was taking of the woman's car. The woman who was shot had put the car into reverse and quicklydrove back to try to try and escape an ICE agent forcibly opening her car door. There was another agent close to the front of the car, but you can't tell from the POV if he would have been hit or not.
TikTok of ICE agents' background and other clips not in the previous video- This video has another POV where you can see the ICE agent in front of the car step to the side as it accelerates, being out of harm's way. The video also goes into details about his past, how he's been an immigration agent since 2013. Also in 2025, there was another incident where he was dragged by a car.
3. ABC News Article- Article explains the situation of what happened, and also gives plenty more instances where ICE and immigration officers have used excessive force and shot civilians.
CBS News Article- This article gave some updates on the investigations, saying the FBI has it fully under its control, and no new updates have come out on whether the agent had been struck by the car or if they view it as intention to run the agent over.
4. Both the news articles that I looked into are considered more left-leaning sources and could potentially hold some bias against ICE and its agents. The first TikTok doesn't necessarily hold bias, as it is a video of the situation and very up to the viewers' discretion in what they see or get from the video. The other TikTok, where it dives into the background of the agent and has videos of the incident, is produced by TheDailyMail, a usually right-leaning news source.
5. After exploring through some other more up-to-date articles, Fox News in this article had claimed that the DOJ won't be pursuing an investigation, but this article had been published two days after this author's initial claim/.
6. The evidence that undermines this claim and proves it is exaggerated or not fully true is the multiple sources I checked and listed above, and the source that the original author gave never claimed what the authorities are claiming, yet it is still under investigation by the FBI.
7. The article that this user used as their evidence for the claim hadn't touched exactly on what they were claiming. So, reaching out asking where the claim came from wouldn't gain any knowledge on the situation. It was simply and axaggerated claim from an article a user had read.
