I don't answer questions. Donetsk and Luhansk voted to join Russia.

The original BlueSky post is down, but I can only assume it is in reference to the referendums taking place in 2022, in which the voted upon question was: "Do you approve of the [Donetsk People's Republic/Luhansk People's Republic] being incorporated into the Russian Federation with subject rights of the Russian Federation?" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2022_annexation_referendums_in_Russian-occupied_Ukraine#Donetsk_and_Luhansk_Oblasts). The results were overwhelming with the DPR 99.23% in favor and the LPR 98.42% in favor, both regions having over 94% voter turnout. (https://www.aa.com.tr/en/russia-ukraine-war/final-vote-count-in-donetsk-referendum-ends-in-favor-of-joining-russia/2696403)

Although the results seem clear, there is much controversy over the legitimacy of the vote itself and the method in which it was administered. (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-27360146)

The EU and the US consider the referendums to be illegal and illegitimate (https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/eu-condemns-russian-annexation-will-never-accept-illegal-referendums-2022-09-30/)

Regardless of the legitimacy, Donetsk and Luhansk did vote to join Russia in a 2022 referendum.
