Overall, after researching the claim, I found it to be false that Ukraine had lost more than 1,000 soldiers "in the last 24 hours." This factcheck was posted on March 17th, so I had attempted on finding articles that were around this date and closest as possible. After reading through the sources, it was in fact Russia who had lost more than 1,000 soldiers, not Ukraine. It was actually the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine that had reported (on Telegram) that Russia had lost a mass amount of troops. Additionally, the source mentions that Ukraine’s defense lines were not breached in any way.
In the source below, I learned that it was Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense that had reported Russia’s massive losses. It gives information on the amount of troops Russia had lost on March 17th, 2026, which resulted around 1,710. The source provided additional information on how Russia had lost so many soldiers in such a quick amount of time.

The evidence that supports the claim I am fact-checking is this text in the article: “Taking advantage of the fog, the invaders attempted offensives along several sections of the front, including in the Zaporizhzhia region. Ukraine’s Defense Forces were prepared, and as a result, the enemy lost 1,710 troops killed or wounded in a single day.”
This piece of evidence was included in the published article, which was translated and originally posted on Telegram, by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine themselves.
