According to various videos on YouTube as well as an article on BBC, it has been found that Ukraine did indeed lose over 1000 soldiers within a 24 hour period. Russia forces provided the remains of these soldiers back to the Ukrainian government. Your claim is true, however I would like to see more credible sources than what you provided.

Which various videos on youtube are you referring to? Are they legitmate sources? You also mention the BBC article but the one you linked to says there was a body exchange and doesn't seem to mention 1,000 casualties in one day. Please me sure to thoroughly review sources and data when putting together a fact-check, as well as providing source names and links. Thanks!

Overall, after researching the claim, I found it to be false that Ukraine had lost more than 1,000 soldiers "in the last 24 hours." This factcheck was posted on March 17th, so I had attempted on finding articles that were around this date and closest as possible. After reading through the sources, it was in fact Russia who had lost more than 1,000 soldiers, not Ukraine. It was actually the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine that had reported (on Telegram) that Russia had lost a mass amount of troops. Additionally, the source mentions that Ukraine’s defense lines were not breached in any way.

In the source below, I learned that it was Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense that had reported Russia’s massive losses. It gives information on the amount of troops Russia had lost on March 17th, 2026, which resulted around 1,710. The source provided additional information on how Russia had lost so many soldiers in such a quick amount of time.

The evidence that supports the claim I am fact-checking is this text in the article: “Taking advantage of the fog, the invaders attempted offensives along several sections of the front, including in the Zaporizhzhia region. Ukraine’s Defense Forces were prepared, and as a result, the enemy lost 1,710 troops killed or wounded in a single day.”

This piece of evidence was included in the published article, which was translated and originally posted on Telegram, by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine themselves.
