After researching and reading through articles, I found that the claim of "an attack on the Turkish Stream will be regarded as an attack on NATO" is true. Though there are not many resources, I attempted to search up the subject at hand and found an article. This source talks about how the attack on the Turkish Stream will be regarded as a direct attack on a NATO country. The article says that the head of the Office of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Gergei Guyash, made the statement at the International Conference of Conservative Political Action (CPAC) in Budapest. Furthermore, the article provides a direct quote given by Guyash.

From the source below, it did not provide much information regarding the claim, but still nonetheless stated that Gergei Guyash, the head of the Office of the Prime Minister of Hungary, stated what was made in the claim. He stated that at CPAC in Budapest, the attack that Ukraine was making on the Turkish Stream will be acknowledged as an attack on a NATO country.

The source provides somewhat limited information, and the article is mostly factual and informational rather than having any potential biases from the author. Therefore, there is not much bias to be seen or found in the article published by EA Daily.

The evidence that supports the claim I am fact-checking regarding the attack by Ukraine on the Turkish Stream is the quote that is given in the article from the source I found, EA Daily. The quote is, "If an attack on the Turkish Stream pipeline is committed on Turkish territory, it will be regarded as an attack on a NATO country, one should not be under any illusions about the behavior of Ukraine, which is ready at any moment to endanger the energy security of Europe even by military means." This quote made by Gergei Guyash supports the claim made regarding the attack on the Turkish Stream because it was announced during the International Conference of Conservative Political Action, which is credible and reliable. CPAC is an official annual gathering of politicians, activists, and stakeholders, organized by the American Conservative Union (ACU) and it is considered the largest gathering in the world; it features speeches, campaigns, etc.

When researching the claim that an attack on Turkish Stream will be regarded as an attack on NATO, I first looked to see who or what was NATO. I found that NATO is a political and military alliance established in 1949 to guarantee security and freedom of its members. I also found out that Turkey was one of the first countries to actually join NATO. When I looked deeply into the article I found it was very misleading. The original claim makes it seem like Turkey was attacked and there's about to be war. What is really happening is the Prime Minister of Hungary saying that if Russia attacks the pipelines in Turkey than NATO will retaliate.

One of the primary sources that I found was the actually NATO treaty. When researching and digging into the treaty I found that article 5 says an armed attack of one NATO member can be treated as an attack on all NATO members. I also found that in article 6, they specifically talk about attacks on the territory of Turkey. https://www.nato.int/en/about-us/official-texts-and-resources/official-texts/1949/04/04/the-north-atlantic-treaty?utm_source=chatgpt.com

For a secondary source I found the Hungarian's official statement which stated that, if Ukraine was to strike the TurkStream pipeline on the Turkish side, Hungary would consider that a strike on a NATO country. He was mainly talking about an attack that happened inside Turkey. The article also shows Hungary’s concern that Ukraine could threaten Europe’s and Hungary’s energy supply by targeting gas infrastructure.

Some of the sources used, are Russian state linked media, so they frame Ukraine negatively and show more support to Russias side in the war. I also found that Hungarian officials has interest in protecting Hungary's gas supply through TurkStream, while NATO and TurkStream's pages might say differently.

The claim is supported one way, a Hungarian official stated that if Ukraine was to attack TurkStream on Turkish territory, then NATO will get involved. Turkey is a NATO member and has been for a long time.

The claim is undermined because the reported attacks connected to TurkStream were not clearly on Turkish territory. Reuters and TASS described attacks on the Russia compressor station in southern Russia, which is connected to TurkStream but is located in Russia. Russia is not a NATO country. Also, NATO Article 5 is not automatic. Even if something happened on Turkish territory, NATO members would still have to assess the situation and decide how to respond.

I tried to find a direct contact for the original claim through the EuropeSays article, but the site mainly appears to repost or summarize outside reporting. A good contact attempt would be to use the site’s contact page or social media, if available, and ask, "Hello, I am fact-checking your article about Gergely Gulyás saying an attack on TurkStream would be treated as an attack on a NATO country. Could you clarify whether the claim only applies to an attack on Turkish territory, or to any attack on TurkStream infrastructure?"
