La #Russie maintient des contacts réguliers avec l'#Iran, mais des informations contradictoires circulent sur de possibles négociations avec les États-Unis. Quel est le commentaire de la Russie ?

On Monday March 30th an official statement from the Kremlin states that Russia has continued communication with offcials in Tehran amid continued attacks from the United states and Israel. I found a Primary source of Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stating how president Putin is in contact with Iran. Russia is continuing this communication with Iran to Ideally resolve the conflicts between the United States and Iran through strictly diplomatic and political means. There are many secondary sources reporting on the communication, but most are being reported on international news sites outside of the United States.

I really liked your fact check, and I thought it was very insightful. The claim you are fact-checking is similar in topic to the one I did, so I was able to see similar sources like the ones you used. I do find it interesting how you use a source from Facebook. It's different because it's not a normal source, but you also run the risk of it not being a credible source.

This post is mostly accurate in its substance, but it comes from a poor standalone source. The underlying statement traces back to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who said Russia is in contact with Iran but had not received information from Iran about the reported U.S. plan. Moscow could not judge how reliable the reports were.

The link is from RT en Fracais/RT France, which is part of RT, a Russian state-controlled outlet. The Council of the European Union said RT is under the direct or indirect control of the Russian authorities and suspended its broadcasting in the EU. They cited their role in disinformation and information manipulation. That does not automatically make every factual statement false, but it does mean RT should be treated as a high-risk source for framing, omissions, and agenda-driven presentation.

More reliable reporting lines up with the core claim. Reuters reported on March 25, 2026, that Peskove said Russia had received no information from Iran about a reported U.S. 15-point plan and therefore could not assess the reliability of those media reports. Reuters also reported that Russia was in constant contact with the Iranian leadership. Taken together, those two Reuters reports the RT summary’s main idea. Therefore, it confirms the statement that Russia says it keeps regular contact with Iran, but does not confirm the alleged U.S.-Iran negotiation details.

The original source is not RT. The claim traces back to Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesperson, speaking on behalf of the Russian presidential administration. That matters because his institutional role is to communicate the Kremlin’s position, so he is an official government source, but also an interested party whose statements reflect Russian state messaging. TASS, Russia’s state news agency, quoted him saying Iran had not shared such information with Russia and that Moscow did not know how truthful the reports were. Reuters reported the same substance independently.

Overall, the specific claim in the post is largely true. What is not trustworthy is RT as the source. It should not be relied on by itself, because it is a state-controlled outlet with a documented propaganda role.

My research found that the claim that Russia keeps close ties with Iran is considered to be true and reliable information. I found it to be based on an official statement from the Russian government rather than simply independently verified actions. The primary source I identified was a Kremlin briefing where the spokesperson Dmitry Peskov states that Russia is in "constant contact with the Iranian leadership," which I located through reporting and traced back to the Russian government itself. Reuters, a globally independent source, doesn't have the same implicit bias as some of the other media forms, making it a decently reliable source. Furthermore, I found a secondary source reporting the same statement that came from AL-monitor, which confirmed that multiple sources were referencing the same Kremlin briefing rather than independent news articles. A potential bias in the primary source, although likely better than alternatives, could be that the Russian government has a strategic interest in presenting itself as actively involved and influential in global affairs, especially if its adversaries are having issues with the country. The direct quote is the main evidence we have to support the claim, although there is a lack of independent verification of what that "contact" truly means, slightly undermining the claim in my opinion. I think this was a relatively broad claim, and "contact" is such a broad term, so I think this quote could get run with if we are not careful to articulate that we don't actually know the extent to which contact means in the context.

On March 2nd The Moscow Times reported that Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia is in “constant contact” with the Iranian leadership. He also noted that they are discussing the ongoing situation with the conflict in the Middle East. Peskov also denied the claims that Russia is providing intelligence to Iran regarding the U.S military calling the claims fake news. Overall this claim is true but vague. It could be more specific in the sense that Russia currently isn’t provide information as much as they are just strictly communicating and admitting to being on good terms.
