This morning, April 24th, conservative political commentator Tucker Carlson announced his leave with Fox News. An article posted today by CNBC mentioned that he left 5 days after the Dominion Lawsuit with Fox News, suggesting a connection between the two events. Is there enough information to conclude that his leave is due to the Dominion settlement?

The first source, from PBS NewsHour, reports that Tucker Carlson "agreed to part ways" with Fox News, citing the network's statement. However, the reason for his departure is not specified in the statement or in the article.

The second source, from NPR, reports that Tucker Carlson was fired by Fox News in a "stunning move" that occurred a week after the network settled a $787 million lawsuit with Dominion Voting Systems. However, the article does not explicitly state that Carlson's departure was directly related to the Dominion lawsuit, only noting the timing of the events. Therefore, while it is possible that Tucker Carlson's departure from Fox News is related to the Dominion lawsuit, there is not enough information provided to conclude definitively that this is the case.

Without additional information or official statements from Fox News or Carlson, it is difficult to say for certain if there is any direct connection between Carlson's departure and the Dominion lawsuit settlement.

The New York Times article does note that the announcement of Tucker Carlson parting ways with Fox News after the settlement came "less than a week after the network agreed to pay $787.5 million in a defamation lawsuit in which Mr. Carlson’s show." According to the article, Donald Trump was surprised by the announcement. The article also writes, 'Donald Trump Jr., who is a close friend of Mr. Carlson’s, described the network’s decision as 'mind-blowing.'” However, when looking at the article it is not clear officially if there is a direct correlation to the settlement.

New articles at this time are noting the timing of events but not explicitly stating whether they are correlated. There has been no confirmation to come from Fox or Carlson. Right now the only thing that has been confirmed is that Carlson is no longer working for Fox News.
