Erik Menendez said that the show Monsters was incorrectly portrayed both him and his brother. Erik says that the show makes him and his brother as vile, and is in disheartening slander. Ryan Murphy then responds as saying that the brothers have "faux outrage"

I'd be interested to see what other sources have to say about the inaccuracies within the series, mainly because the claims in this article are from one of the brothers themselves. A nonbiased third party's analysis of the case would likely have better credibility. Naturally, it would be in Erik's best interest to contest the show, and to keep asserting the claims they used as defense in the trial. This is also the case for Ryan Murphy, obviously Murphy would oppose the claims from Erik Menendez as it is his show and he stands to lose credibility as a result of Erik's claims.

It would be helpful to state in your claim what specifics make the Menendez Brothers angry or upset/portray them in a negative light. This will only help to improve your claim and help the readers understand what exactly you mean.

According to Erik Menendez, Netflix did not accurately depict the "tragedies surrounding our crime". Although the Netflix series has been informative for younger generations surrounding the case and sexual assault awareness as a whole, Erik explains that the series has taken a step backwards, "back through time to an era when the prosecution built a narrative on a belief system that males were not sexually abused, and that males experiences rape trauma differently than women". Additionally, it is explained that prosecutors argued that the brothers' abuse claims were fabricated, but a clear claim is not made regarding what narrative is true.

Although there are falsities within the "Monsters" series on Netflix, the media coverage surrounding the case has proven to favor the Menendez brothers as their case has undergone further review. Upon further research, the New York Times article, "The Menendez Brothers’ Case Is Under Review. Here’s What to Know", depicts how another individual, Roy Rosselló, revealed that he also suffered from being sexually assaulted at the age of 14 by Jose Menendez at the family's home in New Jersey. A detailed letter that Erik wrote to his cousin when he was 17 was also revealed when "The Menendez Murders" book was being written, further proving evidence behind the sexual assault allegations. Ultimately, it is subjective to say whether or not the Netflix show "Monsters" is "full of lies". Although the story may be exaggerated in some areas, it also created more understanding for the Menendez brothers' case and sexual assault allegations as a whole.

What were specific lies from the show about Eric and Lyle Menendez? The article mainly talks about how Eric Menendez thinks the show was slander against himself and his brother, but nothing in particular was mentioned. I found that the main controversy of the series is the implication of a homoerotic incestual relationship between the brothers due to a kissing scene and a scene where they were caught showering together. However, that was not mentioned in the article provided.

In this statement it is explaining that the new show Monsters, newly on Netflix, is describing the situation with the Mendez brothers poorly. I agree that this statement is true, as a psychology major I have studied the case and though the show is explaining a borderline story of them there are many facts that are incorrect such as that the two brothers had a relationship together which is incorrect and many more things in the show that are not true to the actual story.
