According to this article, bands in the UK are doing fewer dates on tour, nearly half as many as in the 1990s.

The title of this 'fact' is rather misleading, as you exclude that it is specified by UK dates rather than worldwide. I couldn't find any sources discussing this besides the BBC, but this claim has little-no merit outside of the UK. Rather, some bands are adding more dates to their tour, like Oasis for example. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/oasis-reunion-tour-additional-shows-announced-1235090723/. It may entirely depend on the artist and their fanbase as well, as if their listeners aren't high in a certain area, they won't travel there.

After some researching, I traced back the article’s sources to the Music Venue Trust’s 2023 Annual Report where it states that it has been struggling due to the closure of many grassroots music venues, stating specifically, “an extraordinary number of closures reflected a combination of challenging factors, which also impacted on the ability of artists to tour” (MUSIC VENUE TRUST, 2023). The claim being made is partially true except it places blame on the bands for skipping the cities and rather ignores the fact that the reason the bands are skipping towns and cities is due to the closure of music venues in the UK. I would’ve worded the claim a little bit better to include a rounder view of the situation.
