The claim that the government will steal land in North Carolina in exchange for $750 FEMA handouts, is false. The $750 is part of a program called the Serious Needs Assistance. In this article from the FEMA website, it states that the $750 is not a loan. It is meant to be used for items such as baby formula, medication, and other emergency supplies. There was a fact check on the FEMA website, in which this claim is refuted. Here is what the page says:

"RUMOR: FEMA is in the process of confiscating Helene survivor property. If I apply for disaster assistance and my land is deemed unlivable, my property will be seized.

FEMA cannot seize your property or land. Applying for disaster assistance does not grant FEMA or the federal government authority or ownership of your property or land.". 

This is a false claim, as the government does not have the power to own your property through the FEMA relief funds.

No FEMA cannot seize your land, and the 750 dollars that is being referred to is called Serious Needs Assistance and it is only an initial payment to help cover immediate needs, not the full payment. The 750 dollars is also not a loan, and you’re not in danger of losing access to your property if you fail to pay the loan back because as I said it is not a loan, and FEMA does not have the authority to seize your property. FEMA has actually had to set up a fact checking tab on their website, not sure why FEMA thinks people who have developed crazed conspiracies about FEMA will listen to them debunk myths about themselves, but props for the attempt.
