Trump is threating to withhold emergency aid from California due to political reasons. There reports from People, Axios, and The Rolling Stone all reporting the same statement. It came from an exclusive interview with Gavin Newson from Politico and when Trump was in Coachella. I know Politico is legit but I thought they were just trying to make propaganda against Trump and maybe exaggerate something but he sounded like he was making at his rally click the link below. Now he didn't state a political reason to be fair but it's obvious why he is targeting Governor Gavin Newsom. But Politico is the only talking about his backup but then again it was an exclusive interview and the source was no other than the man himself.

This clip is from NEWSMAX and shows proof that Trump said that he would hold money for wildfires an ongoing issue within the West Coast. According to their website NEWSMAX is a conservative republican news broadcast company which makes sense why they would stream Trumps rally's. Moving on to the legitimacy of the claim I went on to find out if it is even possible for him to restrict such important resources. The Los Angeles Times wrote about this instance quoting Politico saying "He initially refused to approve federal aid to California for wildfires in 2018 until a National Security Council staffer showed him that Orange County had a dense concentration of supporters"(Wigglesworth, 2024). The article continues to talk about local authorities being concerned as from past events it is incredibly likely that he can and will do so. This has to do with the power the president has in distributing relief funds.
