CNN states that experts say common heart conditions raise the risk of dementia. This article is recent and up to date, posted on October 10th of 2024. The claim in the title of this article matches the content and evidence in the article, "The narrowing of arteries that occurs with coronary heart disease and high blood pressure can reduce blood flow and cause damage to the small blood vessels in the brain, resulting in cognitive impairment, the AHA said" (LaMotte). CNN links the American Heart Association, which is a large and trusted research program. Other credible sites such as Healthline and MedicalNewsToday report the same information as CNN's article, it's content seems unbiased, and all outside sources were linked.

This claim appears to be true. CNN cites a scientific report published on the American Heart Association Journals website, which is a credible source for medical and scientific information. The report lists several people in the byline, with each author having an advanced educational degree in the sciences. The content in the CNN article appears to match the information written in the AHA study. An additional study, published on the NIH website reports information that aligns with that found in the CNN article.

This claim appears to be true. In this article, it is stated that adults with atrial cardiopathy have an increased risk of dementia. Those with this upper heart chamber defect are linked to dementia regardless of atrial fibrillation or stroke.
