According to an article posted by University Hospitals, they point out numerous health risks associated with vaping, such as cardiovascular and heart disease risks. They also mention that cigarette smokers try and switch to e-cigarettes as a healthier alternative, even though the article is talking about how e-cigarettes/vapes are more harmful than regular tobacco cigarettes, making it uncertain whether or not e-cigarettes or vapes are healthier or worse than normal cigarettes

In the article linked above it talks about studies conducted around whether or not vaping is worse that smoking cigarettes. After reading through and analyzing its sources, I found that it kind of shed light on traditional cigarettes, insisting that tobacco smokers would not benefit from switching to vaping to stop their addiction. Upon further research, I found that vaping is a better alternative to smoking cigarettes. In the article titled "Can vaping help you quit smoking?" posted by Harvard Medical School stated that "Vaping is less harmful than smoking cigarettes, but not risk-free" (Robert H. Shmerling). All in all, stating that vaping is more dangerous that smoking tobacco is click baity and half true because of the risk in both.

I agree that it is unclear and found a statement from NewsMedicalToday stating, "Research generally accepts that while vaping can harm the lungs and other bodily systems, its impact is much lessTrusted Source than tobacco smoking. However, a 2019 study into the long-term health effects of vaping found that people using e-cigarettes had a higher risk of respiratory disease than people who never smoked." There seems to be evidence supporting both sides, whioch is why this statement is false but the answer is truly unclear.

We all know vaping and smoking are very dangerous to one's health; now what we don’t know is which is more fatal? “Vaping may be more dangerous than cigarette smoking,” this article claims. According to two different studies, researchers discovered that smokers of e-cigarettes had higher levels of LDL and total cholesterol, two risk factors for heart disease. One study found that vaping can worsen several heart disease risk factors just as much as smoking tobacco cigarettes, and another found that e-cigarettes even worsen heart blood flow. Overall cholesterol and LDL, or "bad," cholesterol were found to be higher in e-cigarette users than in nonsmokers. Many users perceive vaping as a safer alternative; however, this research shows that it may lead to severe respiratory issues, cardiovascular problems, and even long-term addiction. In summary, while vaping does carry significant health risks and may be worse than smoking in some respects, the portrayal of vaping as uniformly more dangerous can be misleading without proper context and ongoing research. Consumers must remain informed about the potential dangers of both vaping and smoking.

We also do not know the long-term effects of vaping yet, since it is still relatively new compared to cigarettes.

According to an article on the Johns Hopkins Website, (5 Vaping Facts You Need to Know | Johns Hopkins Medicine), While vaping is still harmful to your lungs and heart, its not as harmful as cigerettes. Though E-cigs are just as addictive and still contain nicotine which is the addictive chemical in these E-cigs. This article also agrees that E-cigs are not very helpful for trying to quit nicotine.

That seems to be what the answer is for the most part. Although it is not good for you, it is not actually more dangerous than smoking a cigarette.

I think the Johns Hopkins article makes a good point about vaping being less harmful than traditional cigarettes, but I’m a bit skeptical of how often that comparison downplays vaping's own serious risks. While e-cigarettes contain fewer harmful chemicals than cigarettes, research from Harvard Health and other institutions has raised concerns about the long-term effects of inhaling other chemicals in vape products, like propylene glycol and flavorings, which can cause lung inflammation and even irreversible lung damage

Keeping your opinions open and checking on different sources is really important when it comes to fact-checking. I think that adding the Hopkins article was very beneficial because that is a very reliable and trusted source. The article you provided gave a great outlook on how vaping is not good for a person's health but that does not mean that it is worse than cigarette smoking. Along with that, this article does not glorify that vaping is good and still informs you about the harms that it still carries even if it is not as bad as smoking cigarettes.

This claim is somewhat exaggerated. With further research, I found articles from Johns Hopkins University and the CDC that both talk about how vaping is less harmful but still not safe for people. John Hopkins' article discusses that nicotine doses in e-cigarettes are more addictive than cigarettes, but they're still unsure about the long-term physical effects of vaping. (https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/5-truths-you-need-to-know-about-vaping#:~:text=1%3A%20Vaping%20is%20less%20harmful,many%20of%20which%20are%20toxic.) Additionally, the CDC explains how e-cigarettes do often contain fewer harmful chemicals than cigarettes but it doesn't mean they're safe. The CDC is also unclear about the effects of "e-cigarette content" when heated and turned into aerosol that is inhaled into the lungs. (https://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/basic_information/e-cigarettes/pdfs/Parents-Know-the-Risks-TPs-508.pdf) Due to these findings, I would conclude that vaping isn't more harmful than cigarettes, but it isn't necessarily safe and more research needs to be done to determine the long term effects.

My article talked about the same thing. Though it is not actually good for you its not worse than smoking traditional cigarettes. Cigarettes are more harmful as the allow for ash and other chemicals that burn directly into your lungs.

This fact check is true and helpful due to the fact that smoking cigarettes are not as harmful as using vapes. Studies show that Although both are bad for your health, cigarettes are the worst option. Cigarettes are known to cause lung disease and cancer, which ultimately lead to death. Vapes on the other hand have not been linked to any deaths but are known to cause many different types of harmful diseases.

This fact check was accurate and satisfactory as far as I can tell. I found similar results that e-cigarettes are unsafe, but not as bad as traditional cigarettes.

Looking at other articles, such as articles from sources such as the National Library of medicine and many others, no others except the article from University Hospitals really cover as much the health effects related to blood flow and cholesterol. It sounds like cigarettes and vapes have pretty comparable health effects although neither are actually "good for you."

In the article the claim is that vaping could be more dangerous than smoking a traditional cigarettes. Several studies done by AHA | ASA Journals and University Hospitals have proven that cigarettes have significantly less properties that are damaging to the human body. However the article does not claim that cigarettes are healthier than vapes, only that vapes contain more harmful chemicals.

The Claim is true that vaping can be more harmful than smoking cigarettes in certain areas, however it is still slightly misleading. The article explains that e-cigarettes can be more harmful than tobacco cigarettes on heart health and blood flow. This is backed up by a study published on the AHA website. https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/circ.140.suppl_1.14816

However vaping is still better than smoking in the area of chemical exposure. John Hopkins Medicine states “ There’s almost no doubt that vaping exposes you to fewer toxic chemicals than smoking traditional cigarettes.”
