Yes, the claim that dog's faces have evolved to improve connection with people, is true. But, I think it's important to note the role humans played in this. The research posted in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, shows that as humans we're more drawn to "fast-twitch" muscle movements because it's similar to our face structure and how we interpret emotion. So, when dog domestication began, humans were drawn to dogs with this trait, which has continued to evolve through our breeding selection process. The idea that it's to "manipulate" humans is not true because this evolution isn't happening (or at least research hasn't shown causation) because of this. So, the framing of this research is really important.

Here are the sources I fact checked with: https://www.pnas.org/doi/full/10.1073/pnas.1820653116#bibliographyhttps://www.eventscribe.net/2022/EB2022/fsPopup.asp?PresentationID=1027886&query=burrows&mode=presinfo

So the overall claim is true? Or would it be false since a dog's puppy eyes are not an actual manipulation tactic?
