The Music Essentials claims that recent president Joe Biden has caused a TikTok US ban to take place in January of 2025. I personally have never heard of the news source this statement was provided from and after doing light research it does not seem to be the most trustworthy site. The author of this news Akshay Bhanawat claims that TikTok could face a full shutdown if Byte Dance does not sell its US operations. Byte Dance is in need of finding a new buyer otherwise this shutdown would cost thousands of influencers to lose their jobs and could send a shockwaves through the tech world, states Bhanawat. To be fair, the rumors of a TikTok ban have been lingering for years now and multiple other news sources like The New York Times, and Washington Post have made similar articles about the ban. So the question remains, are the rumors true and is TikTok really going to be banned in January 2025?

You raise a valid point about the credibility of the source you referenced, Music Essentials, and it's good that you highlighted your skepticism. It’s crucial to rely on established news outlets when discussing significant issues like a potential TikTok ban, as they often have editorial standards that lesser-known sites might lack. I would recommend looking into statements from government officials or reputable news organizations that directly report on the TikTok situation. For instance, articles from sources like The New York Times or Reuters typically provide clearer context about ongoing discussions regarding TikTok and its ownership. As for the timeline you mentioned (January 2025), it’s important to verify if any official announcements have been made regarding this date. Keeping an eye on updates from those major news outlets will give you a more accurate picture of the situation.

I think that the potential ban of TikTok in the US is just that, a potential. We won't truly know until the case is closed sometime in January of next year or even later. The Supreme Court could prolong the case if a decision is appealed. In an article by the New York Times, previously Montana tried to legislate a law banning TikTok however, it was blocked by a federal judge under violation of the First Amendment if that says anything. We won't have an answer for a little bit, but if the law passes then ByteDance has to find a government-approved buyer for TikTok. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/16/technology/tiktok-us-ban-court.html
