As a result of a political funding scandal, inflation, and growing living expenses, the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan lost its parliamentary majority in the House of Representatives in the most recent election. As his party tries to hold onto power, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, who called the emergency election to solidify his position, is now facing uncertainty. The Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (CDPJ), the largest opposition party, achieved major gains that made the LDP's problems worse. This might result in an unusual period of political uncertainty for Japan while the LDP looks for new allies or functions as a minority administration.

Due to rising living costs and distrust in the government, the LDP(Liberal Democratic Party) in Japan has lost some Parliamentary power in its lower house for the first time in 15 years. The newly elected Prime Minister called this vote just months after being elected to bolster his position backfired and left his part in shambles. This decision by the Japanese public could change how Japan is currently functioning with its declining birth rate and economy. This vote can be explained however as there was a recent scandal over undocumented political funds being used by the LDP to get their new Prime Minister elected.
