While your claim has a valid sourcing to it, there is no explanation beyond the source. However, your claim is also not entirely true. As many companies are still bringing in money, like Google. (https://www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/news/google-3q24-earnings-massive-profits-despite-multiple-threats/) Looking at this claim, most of the related articles are from a year to over a year ago. While yes, some caution should be taken, I believe this fact is an exaggeration of the actual situation.
