Based on the info given here from the claim they’re making it is outdated. The Data here takes place in 2021 so the Data here could’ve progressed differently. The Data given from the MedicalXpress tells me that it is true that some games do harm the mind of children, but they do have a way to help people with mental issues. For Example ADHD people would play racing games to stray away from the Suicidal Thoughts they had on their mind.

After reading the article linked below I'm having trouble finding the data that takes place in 2021. If you have a chance could you please let me know where in the article you found that information?

According to the University of Utah Health, video games do have an effect on your children's behavior. In some instances, video games are a good way for kids to connect and bond over a shared interest. Unfortunately, most video games are extremely violent. According to the University of Utah Health, young children can come immune to violence or even mimic the behavior shown. This is setting a horrible example for young developing brains. It makes them thing that violence is ok, when it is the opposite. This article was updated in 2021 but technology and video game usage has increased drastically, especially by younger people, since then.

This is an accurate fact check due to the fact that video games do have the possibility of having a negative effect on your children. For example, studies have shown that children who have never played video games are more likely to have better cognitive skills than those who do play video games. Though, some of the games that children play can have a positive effect on them, such as Minecraft, Mario Brothers, and more. On the other hand more aggressive games like GTA 5 or Call of Duty, may have a more negative effect on children, causing them to be more aggressive and violent.

According to the University of Utah there has been studies that show, children who are exposed to violence become numb to it: "Studies of children exposed to violence have shown that they can become immune or numb to violence, imitate the violence they see and show more aggressive behavior with greater exposure to violence. Studies have also shown that the more realistic and repeated the exposure to violence, the greater the impact on children." Games that contain unhealthy amounts of violence set a horrible example for younger children and the younger population. After researching this claim, video games that have realistic violence, can have an effect on your Childs behavior if consuming an unhealthy amount of it. The claim is true.

To answer the question; Do video games affect your child's behavior? The answer is yes. But the article used to back up this claim, linked at the bottom, doesn't do the best job of reinforcing this claim. This is because the article summarizes the data collected by JAMA Pediatrics, which was a study analyzing the effect of video games engineered to help individuals suffering from depression, ADHD, or anxiety. It's important to note that the data that this article references from JAMA Pediatrics is data collected from "A systematic search of PubMed, PsycINFO, and Web of Science [that] was conducted for RCTs published before March 20, 2024" (JAMA 2024). Another important note is that in the results tab from the JAMA article, while targeted video games did have an effect on children the effect was very modest. As mentioned above the medical press article references the data from the JAMA article which to the best of my knowledge is the first source of this data. This claim is exaggerated or misleading because while there is data that video games affect children's behavior, the article referenced and the data referenced were for a study done on children with depression, anxiety, and ADHD.

This is a true fact check regarding the effects of video games on children. Research indicates that gaming can have negative impacts; for instance, studies show that children who do not play video games tend to have better cognitive skills than those who do. However, some games, like Minecraft and Mario Brothers, can positively influence creativity and problem-solving abilities. Conversely, more aggressive games such as Grand Theft Auto V and Call of Duty are linked to increased aggression and violent behavior in children.

I would agree with the claim, while certain conditions can cause video games to be a detriment to a Child's behaviors. Video games in a controlled and healthy manner can be helpful for cognitive skills and social behaviors. Akron Children's explains the benefits that  video games can provide for developing minds. While there are benefits, video games can become problematic for various reasons. The largest risk is addiction which can lead to antisocial behaviors and poor mental health. This reason alone is large part of the argument against video games and their use.

Based on what I've read video games do affect children's behavior. In a way, Video Games can also be a positive thing where friends, family, and anyone can connect and have a great time playing a game. As the University of Utah's Health article says "While some games have educational content, many of the most popular games emphasize negative themes." But, it depends on what game you're playing and what people you're playing with can affect a person. According to the Michigan Youth Violence Prevention Center, they have done three separate studies from 3rd graders-College students and found in all three that playing video games people see more violence. More specifically they are more aggressive verbally and physically, bullying and more violent in the real world. Also, according to the National Library of Medicine, they did six studies and found that in five they found a significant association between Video Games and aggression. But in a way they can also be a positive thing where friends, family and anyone can connect and have a great time playing a game
