Inaccurate reporting has lead to false claims about the Harris campaign paying Oprah Winfrey $1 million to promote Harris. Winfrey has said the money went directly to her production company, Harpo Prods. to pay for the fees associated with hosting the "Unite for America" livestream rally in September. The money was used by the production company to pay for pre-production, field shoot production and logistics and post production costs. Ultimately, the money was spent on hosting the event, not for Oprah's promotion of the candidate.

Separately, the Harris campaign reportedly spent six figures on building a temporary set in a Washington D.C. hotel for the "Call Her Daddy" podcast according to reporting by the Washington Examiner. Again, the money spent by the Harris campaign was spent on producing the content for the podcast, not the appearance itself.
