This claim, coming from Nature, a British multidisciplinary science journal, according to their website, is  cited to be from The Lancet, a medical journal. In the original journal the authors go into detail about the procedure, explaining the study from Japan from its conception to the exact scientific processes behind it, as well as the patients involved and the time frame, being from 2019-2020. Given that the information comes from a well-renowned, peer-reviewed medical journal written by fourteen medical experts, the information can be regarded as true, and the article by Nature reflects the same information written in the original journal, just simplified.

I appreciate how you traced the claim in the article back to the original medical journal where it was published, and investigated the credibility of the data. It would be interesting to look into whether this study has been published by other sites or organizations.
