Although it is true Trump proposed this, it does not mean that he will be doing it. The article you referenced also says this. It mentions that he would need congressional support and does not say that he will take away student aid or more specifically FAFSA. This is just based on the article you linked. Maybe look into it further, has he said anything recently? Any updates or evidence of this? The article you read had a misleading title, due to the recent election it is easier to believe what we first read but look into more sources maybe from trusted organizations specifying Financial aid.

This claim is exaggerated or misleading. There is no evidence that Donald Trump is currently “taking away FAFSA” entirely. However, in previous budget proposals, Trump suggested reducing funding for certain financial aid programs associated with FAFSA, such as the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) and the Federal Work-Study program. He proposed eliminating FSEOG, which serves low-income students, and significantly cutting the Federal Work-Study program. Additionally, Trump’s proposals aimed to eliminate subsidized loans for undergraduates, reduce borrowing limits for graduate students, and cut the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. Though these changes would impact aid options available to students, FAFSA as an application system would continue to exist, helping students access federal loans and grants that remain in place.

Although this is floating around I haven't found any evidence of this being for certain. There is talk of there being different things put in place to either lessen the amount of FASFA, as well as possibly getting rid of the SAVE program and other income-based repayment programs such as PAYE and ICR.
