Broward County Public Schools in Florida told kids they couldn't use their phones at school, which sparked discussion among parents, teachers, and students. As of August, a new state rule made it illegal for students to bring their phones to class with them. During class, they must be turned off or in airplane mode and kept in designated areas. Since the shooting in Parkland in 2018, critics, especially parents, are worried about how to get help in an emergency. Supporters of the policy say it cuts down on distractions and helps people concentrate. Even with Alyssa's Alert and school security, some parents are worried that the policy makes it harder to talk to people in an emergency. Enforcing rules in the classroom has worked, but it's been harder during lunch and breaks, which has led to mixed reactions. The survey results will be looked at by the district to decide if the ban should be kept or changed.
