This claim is true! Hyundai is recalling approximately 42,465 vehicles because of the issue according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's webpage. "Owners are advised to use the parking brake when parking the vehicle. Dealers will reroute the console extension wiring assembly, free of charge." The NBC article's claim is true. The mention of wiring issues connects to what the NHTSA had also said - that there is a possible improper wiring route that allows the transmission to shift out of park without applying the break pedal.

Excellent factcheck. I think that it is important to cite out the main source that these recalls are reported from instead of trusting a mainstream news article alone. People who believe their cars may fit the bill for this recall should make the decision to go onto the NHTSA website as you did and look up their license plate + VIN number to see if their car is under recall and whether or not they need to panic. I think it is good that while the article was correct, you took the extra step to see if this was completely a true statement.

Great Job on the fact-check. I loved how you included a detailed analysis, as well as state statistics which builds credibility. Next time, I would recommend trying to trace back NBC claim on the quotes and statistics to where it first originated from, to build more credibility that the statistic is correct. Also, make sure to put the link to the sources which tie back to your findings. Overall, great fact-check you included tons of detail, and did a great analysis.
