All of these claims components are shown to be true after reading and comparing similar articles. The claim mentions extreme weather and breaking records during thanksgiving week all talked about in the original article by NBC News, written by 3 reliable journalists. These journalists have focused their work in at least one of these mentions and have worked with NBC News or other news channels for several years. The main article references another piece by Patrick Smith that explains the numbers on flights this year such as the 1.9 million increase from last year and the percentage of people that will fly, take the train or go on a cruise. It also does address the number of delays already caused by this year's weather that connects back to the amount of travelers due to high demand.

Another media source that mentioned the 8 million specifically was the National Public Radio (NPR). Found here: https://www.npr.org/2024/11/18/nx-s1-5195137/thanksgiving-travel-best-worst-driving-flying-record-travelers
They are a non profit trusted organization that reports on all kinds of news from national to global, with the goal to just inform the public. Their article mainly focuses on the amount of travelers and not so much on delays. I found another article that addresses the weather in the situation and the numbers are rising in the flights being delayed.

Lastly the AAA was what inspired this claim, as it was referenced by almost every article I read on the weather and effect on traveling. Their article breaks down each way of traveling with data such as best and worst times to travel.

Both of these news companies referenced the AAA in their findings and after reading their report. It is once again true that the weather will pose challenges during the thanksgiving season.
