The claim that eating chocolate relieves stress is true. According to the National Library of Medicine, dark and milk chocolate reduce stress. During a study where 60 students were divided into 3 groups and each group was given either milk, dark, or white chocolate, researchers found that milk and dark chocolate reduce stress levels, especially in women. It’s not the flavor of milk or dark chocolate, but the cocoa solids within them that are the stress relievers. This is because cocoa is a source of flavanol antioxidant, which helps lower blood pressure and inflammation throughout the body. So yes, eating chocolate does relieve stress.

The source I researched is titled "Go Ahead, Treat Yourself... Dark Chocolate Improves Memory, Reduces Stress". I found that in the article they discuss the positive impacts specifically within Dark Chocolate and how it can actually have a great effect on several aspects of your health. Dark Chocolate can supposedly benefit individuals within areas such as reduce stress, improve memory, prevent cell damage, and improve blood pressure. This article talks about a study from the Loma Linda University of Health in California and uses their data to backup their claim. This data explains that “[In] this particular study that was presented, we were able to show that after we have subjects consume… a chocolate bar with 70 percent cacao, that after 30 minutes, they had a massive, massive, large increase of gamma frequency in a major area of the brain — that is the back area of the brain and the right side of the brain.” This proves the point that the claim was trying to get across that chocolate relieves stress. The domain of this article is .edu which is a more commonly credible domain and can mean that more likely the information is accurate. I don't feel as though this article had any sort of bias, it had a real life example and it can't get much more realistic than that. This information supports the claim that eating chocolate relieves stress. This article was written by Jessica Wakeman, I attempted to find information about her on the internet and I found that there isn't much specifying her within these topics rather than that she is an independent journalist from New York. This could mean that she isn't very educated on the topic, although with the amount of research that was shown and the fact I found this information on other sources such as the National Library of Medicine I believe I have enough information to believe this claim is accurate.

I think there is some truth behind it, but also not much infromation to back the statement up besides a comment and a link. There is scientific support for this claim, especially with dark chocolate because it can reduce stress and contribute to feeling relaxed and calm. Yet its also not super good for you, depending on the chocolate you get and the portion size you eat, because it can lead to high levels of fat and cholesterol. Most of the benefits are short-term term and having certain chocolate can lead to an unhealthy diet and lead to more intestinal problems.

This claim has also been made by many other sources related to the topic, so it can be assumed that chocolate indeed does have that impact. One specific study from The National Library of Medicine concludes that "Consumption of 40g of Dark and Milk chocolate daily during a period of 2 weeks appear to be an effective way to reduce perceived stress in females."

This claim seems to be largely true. The article claims that both milk chocolate and dark chocolate can somewhat relieve stress levels, with white chocolate not offering a significant amount of relief compared to the two. The article references a study which the National Library of Medicine also reported on, which followed students over a two week period regularly eating chocolate. the Study compared the effects of all three types and found that dark chocolate was most effective. A number of other trustworthy sources also report that eating chocolate can reduce stress levels such as, Johns Hopkins, Healthline, and ScienceDirect. There is another study referenced which produces similar results. With these in mind, the article seems roughly true.
