The claim that Jewish and Muslim groups condemned President Trump for calling sitting senator Chuck Schumer a Palestinian is true. Multiple reputable news organizations have reported on the matter, with the New York Times in their article "Rights Groups Condemn Trump for Using 'Palestinian' as a Slur Against Schumer" including a video clip from an interview with the president that included the offense. Also in the article was the reaction from Halie Soifer, chief executive of the Jewish Democratic Council of America, who referred to the incident and the president's choice of words as "Abhorrent." This story was also directly reported on by Reuters, which included a quote by Nihad Awad, national executive director of the Council on American Islamic Relations, where he stated, "President Trump's use of the term 'Palestinian' as a racial slur is offensive and beneath the dignity of his office."

I believe that the Muslim and Jewish people are in the right for condemning Trump for calling someone that isn't even Palestinian, but just a supporter and ally to the genocide that is going on Palestinian is racially and generally offensive. In the New York Times article below, the author listed many reasons that Trump's tone and argument addressed this in a negative and intense tone. Saying someone is a Palestinian means that their ethnicity, race or background of being Palestinian. What Donald Trump meant when he used the word "Palestinian" is saying that Schumer is only Palestinian became he sympathizes for the genocide that is happening in Gaza, and he simply a bad person. Trump calls him this also in a racial context, making Schumer a part of lower class race, that is less of person. I can strongly agree with the author of the article saying that Trump is "not evening using the word and value behind "Palestinian" is diminished", and not even used in the correct context.

You start the fact-check saying, "I believe..." but do you have any credible evidence that Jewish and Muslim groups have condemned Trump?

I noticed that your fact-check starts with 'I believe,' which makes it sound more like an opinion than a verified claim. Additionally, while you reference a New York Times article, it would strengthen your argument if you explained where the New York Times got its information. Clarifying this would make your fact-check stronger.

This fact check seems more opinion-based than fact-based. You also focus on Trump's quote instead of trying to look more deeply into the Muslim and Jewish groups's reactions to the quote. I think by doing so your fact check would be a lot more credible.

I found it interesting about your point for why Trump may be using this language, even though I agree that it will always be unjust and invoke a racial slur. Also, when such precarious language is used at a rally or in the Oval office, one would think that this is reckless.

The claim that Jewish and Muslim groups condemned Donald Trump for calling Senator Chuck Schumer a "Palestinian" saying he used the term as a slur is accurate. During an Oval Office meeting on March 12, 2025, Donald Trump said "Schumer is a Palestinian as far as I'm concerned. He's become a Palestinian. He used to be Jewish. He's not Jewish anymore. He's a Palestinian". The national executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Nihad Awad labeled this comment as offensive due to the indication of dehumanizing Palistinians. https://www.jpost.com/international/article-845837

This answer is effective as you directly quote Donald Trump in his statement towards Schumer, as well as quoting Nihad Awad. Though I would like it if there was more discussing the original source and what groups aside from just the Council of American-Islamic Relations have said in regard to the situation.

I found it interesting that you also heard about the separate occurrence in the Oval office, beyond the rally. This proves how it can quickly spread. Also, I feel it requires a professional tone to deal with dignitaries from various countries.

This claim is true. In the source linked, the New York Times includes quotes from several leaders of Muslim and Jewish groups but also provides a link to chief executive of the Jewish Democratic Council of America Halie Soifer's X account. Here, she posts a message reading, "Donald Trump doesn't get to decide who is Jewish. @SenSchumer is the country's highest ranking elected Jewish American, and 'Palestinian' should not be used as an insult." Amy Spitalnick, CEO of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, also confirmed her statements against Trump on her LinkedIn profile: "As I told The New York Times: Trump’s attacks on civil liberties, due process, and education institutions are about exploiting our real concerns about antisemitism to undermine democracy." Finally, Nihad Awad, National Executive Director of CAIR, confirmed his statements on cair.com: "President Trump’s use of the term ‘Palestinian’ as a racial slur is offensive and beneath the dignity of his office." These three statements are all upheld by their respective makers, so it is clear that this claim by The New York Times is true.

This article and claim are true. It was posted from the New York Times, a very reliable source. They took these quotes directly from Trump when there were many witnesses in the Oval Office. The only worry I would have for this article is bias since the NYT is obviously a more liberal and democratic-leaning paper. However, the status of their name and overall success tells me they uphold high journalistic standards. The Guardian also published an article backing the NYT article, so I believe this claim is true.

It is smart to recognize the possible left-leaning bias from the New York Times despite this claim being very likely true. I think you did a good job identifying these claims through direct quotes which makes your reasoning that much stronger.

As I looked through the source of the claim from the article (the account who posted it), the account seemed credible. The investigation found the account who posted it was a true reporter covering various topics for a credible source, The New York Times. The account has a credible background of covering related political and national security reports such as for British politics. Additionally, she covered British politics for The Wall Street Journal, another credible new outlet. The link for a trusted source on the same claim/topic is below. The source is MSNBC, which is a credible business and political news outlet. It talks about how at least once if not multiple times during 2024, Trump referred to the senator as a Palestinian. It even included the source to a clip of it occurring, which is included below. The original first instance of this claim/idea was when the rally Trump appeared at occurred on July 31st, 2024. A source describing this is included below. The only part of this statement that is a question is in regards to if Trump is using this as an unjust tactic to play up his somewhat false war-ending claim.

The source of this information, The New York Times, is highly credible. These journalists adherence to a code of ethics that prioritizes accuracy. What journalists do is relay the information they discover in a cohesive way. The Times cites Jewish groups, Muslim groups, and Nihad Awad as the sources of contempt for Trump's quote, which is shown in video. Awad is the executive director for CAIR (the Council on American-Islamic Relations) and therefore the beliefs he shares are reflective of the community at large whom he is speaking for. In this regard, Awad is a credible source to determine the use of the work "Palestinian" in this context as a slur.

According to the New York Times article listed, it is true that Jewish and Muslim groups are indeed condemning Trump. Wether or not one believes that Trump was using the term as a racial slur or just as a descriptor is up to personal opinion. It depends on if one deems Trump's tone while saying "Palestinian" as demeaning or not. However irregardless of personal opinion is objectively true that Jewish and Muslim groups deem it as a slur and have taken offense.
