White House budget director Russell Vought said Wednesday that the Trump administration was putting on hold billions of dollars of funding for infrastructure projects in New York City, hours after the federal government shut down.

Vought wrote on X that he would be pausing $18 billion in funding for infrastructure projects to “ensure” that the money was not “flowing based on unconstitutional DEI principles.”

Could you please offer a primary source for this? Although NBC is a fairly credible news source, it still doesn't offer sufficient evidence for the claim.

Going forward, check multiple sources besides what the original poster has provided (re: NBC) to double confirm the information and claim.

To strengthen your argument, consider incorporating additional credible sources to support your claims. Right now, the reasoning feels vague and lacks concrete evidence, which weakens the overall impact. Also, both points seem repetitive perhaps reframe them to highlight distinct aspects. It might help to begin by explaining the underlying causes: what led to this situation in the first place?

It is good that you used NBC News, since it is a credible source that is known nationally for verifying their updates. Using this source adds legitimacy to your comments. However, it might help to include a second source to confirm the details about the funding freeze and may be able to include more context as to why this decision was made.

NBC news is a credible source, however you mentioned in the text that you were able to find multiple sources, citing these sources would make your claim appear a lot stronger. Additionally providing more context whether that be with your own words or quoting one of the articles you found would help as well.

After checking multiple sources I have come to the conclusion that the statement is true. Although the information from Russ Vought was correct it is misleading as he claimed it was going to unconstitutional DEI practices which were the reasoning for the pause of funds but there is no evidence to support his claims. Russ Vought is a reliable source as he is the director of The United States office of Management and Budget and he refers to the X account of the U.S Department of Transportation. The content is fairly new as it was sent out on October 1 and many other main stream news sources are reporting this such as the Washington Post and NBC news. The text is mostly neutral and the headlines do indeed line up with what was said by Vought.

I thought that your fact-check did a great and concise job! I thought that how you described Russ Vought as a reliable source was very compelling because he has a position in the government as the director of management and budget, as well as pointing out that he referred to the X account of the US Department of Transportation. Although the information came from a social media source, it is more trustworthy since it is a government account. I thought you analyzed the content well when you described it as being neutral and lining up with other news sources. I also thought it was great how you noted that the information given by Russ Vought could be misleading. Overall, great job!

I think your answer is great and helpful delivering a clear concise answer.  I don't see any sources for your work which would be helpful at least something with a plan for where the money was going or where he says it's going to DEI practices its probably in the tweets but adding them at the bottom directly would give your answer more support.

Hello thanks for your feedback and I wanted to follow up and expand on my thought by saying that the funds being withheld were for a subway in New york and I quote, "Specifically, the Hudson Tunnel Project and the Second Ave Subway."(Vought, X).

I like that you expressed your idea and also cited the source where you read from and decided this. I also enjoy that you continue on the fact what was said was indeed misleading in someways, which was clear in your description. I also enjoy you shared how new the information is which keeps it fresh. However I would add where people got mislead or where that misleading speech guided people
