The claim that the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles will 'prioritize' women's events is not the entirety of the story. Women's track will be running three events on the opening day of the Olympics rather than its usual maximum of two. Additionally, the mens 100 meter has been moved to the second day (which gets less viewership) and women's events will be played during better times of the day that have increased viewership. Though this is a major step forward for women's athletics, men's events will still be played during many of the prime time viewership windows but better shared with women. There is a more fair mix of male and female events rather than pushing female events to late/early windows that less viewers are available for like they've done in the past.
Additionally, prioritizing women's sports doesn't just mean they are giving them better viewership hours. The Olympic Committee is taking steps to make women's events more fair. They are reportedly going to ban biologically male athletes who identify as female from competing in women's events. This is due to trans athletes dominating women's sports in the past and having an unfair advantage over biological women who have dedicated their entire lives to the sport. Because of this, the Olympics Committee is exploring ways to gene test athletes.
