Masked immigration agents are stopping people they think are undocumented. They pull them into unmarked cars and run checkpoints in cities like Washington DC and Los Angeles. Some of this is legal but experts say it goes too far. Officers can arrest people without a warrant if they think the person is in the US illegally and might try to run. Courts disagree on what counts as a good reason. One court said they can’t target people for race or language but the Supreme Court said they still can for now.

Agents are supposed to say who they are but many wear masks and don’t. They need a warrant to go into homes or businesses but some have lied about being police to get in which is now banned. ICE agents are only supposed to use force when needed but there are reports of them breaking car windows and tackling people. Experts say this is confusing and makes people scared and unsure of their rights.
