The US stock markets had one of their worst trading days led by sharp drops in major indexes. Technology and AI-linked stocks are considered major drivers of the drop. The sell-off reflected concerns that AI-sector valuations may have gotten ahead of themselves.

Part of the uncertainty comes from the government's recent shutdown which delays key economic data which makes it hard for the Fed to know whether or not to move on rates. International markets even took a hit and analysts warn that as suppressed economic data begins to flow regularly again, this could spark more issues later on.
