Jack Schlossberg is the son of Caroline Kennedy, who is the daughter of JFK. Jack announced he is running for Congress in 2026. His mother is "living in fear" about him because of the recent news of political figures, how toxic and violent it has gotten. Senator Chuck Schmuner gave Jack a "seal of approval" and endorsed him for Congress.

The article mentioned that Caroline Kennedy's son is a controversial figure. He has made fun of his cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about what he is doing politically. He has also said some things about JD Vance on social media.

It appears to be true that Jack Schlossberg is planning to run for office, particularly "seeking to fill the congressional seat being vacated by New York Representative Jerrold Nadler, who announced in September that he would retire after more than three decades in office," according to the BBC. He is well known as a social media commentator and, as reporting by NYT notes, "has been especially critical — at times viciously so — of his cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who, despite his skepticism of vaccines and of science-backed public health policies, now serves as health secretary under Mr. Trump."

One thing to note about this claim is that, according to Politico, its true that Schlossberg was tapped by Schumer to fill one of the seats slotted for private citizens on the America 250 Commission, but I can't find anywhere Schumer has officially endorsed Schlossberg for a congressional run.

This claim is true. According to CNN Politics, “Schlossberg is running to replace the retiring Rep. Jerry Nadler, who represents New York’s 12th Congressional District” (CNN Politics, 2025). This confirms that Jack Schlossberg is running for congress to replace Nadler’s position. The article goes into depth how Schlossberg was born and raised in New York, and relates to this new generation. He feels like he speaks the generation's language, and can therefore succeed in the position. According to NBC News, “‘I’m running for Congress to represent my home, New York’s 12th congressional district, where I was born and raised, where I took the bus to school every single day from one side of the district to the other,’ Schlossberg said in a video announcing his candidacy” (NBC News, 2025). Schlossberg is very passionate about running for this position. His mom Caroline Kennedy is in fact not happy about it. According to Yahoo News, “Caroline Kennedy, however, has reportedly ‘pleaded with Jack not to run,’ sources close to the family told the New York Post, warning that the political climate is a ‘toxic environment’ that has grown ‘too dangerous, too frightening, too crazy’”(Yahoo News, 2025). This is proof that this claim is true. Also it is understandable that Caroline Kennedy is nervous about Schlossberg running for congress after her father President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Overall, this claim is true.

The grandson of former President John F. Kennedy has recently announced that he will be launching a campaign to run for Congress in 2026. According to author Tabby Wilson at the BBC, Jack Schlossberg is seeking the Democratic nomination for the seat representing New York's 12th Congressional District. With a combined over 1 million followers on Instagram and TikTok, the Kennedy heir has consistently said he wants to make politics more approachable for younger generations. According to the article on his campaign website, he states, "This is our last chance to stop Trump-it won't come again".

I found that this claim is true in that Jack Schlossberg has announced a 2026 run for the U.S. Congress in New York’s 12th District. Outlets have reported differing sides to the idea that Caroline Kennedy is “living in fear” about her son’s run. Some play into this idea while others quote a New York Times interview where Caroline gave comments that were more supportive or impressed of his approach to social media. The emotional framing of the claim that his mother is “living in fear”  is sensationalized and can’t be fully seen as true. There is also no evidence that Senator Schumer officially endorsed Jack Schlossberg for Congress. What he did do is appoint Schlossberg to the America 20 Commission earlier in 2025, but this isn’t a congressional endorsement (Politico).

The first primary source I found is Jack Schlossberg’s official campaign website that lists his announcement, platform, and press contact info. This evidence confirms that he is running and launched  a formal campaign. There is also Senator Schumer’s public announcement (CBS) about appointing Schlossberg to the America 250 Commission. He publicly announced tapping Schlossberg for this position but this is still distinctly different from endorsing a Congressional campaign; a claim for which there is still no evidence found. Secondary sources I found were from the Associated Press running a news piece on Schlossberg announcing his candidacy and a mention of him criticizing RFK Jr, and also covering his background. The New York Post article provided in the claim frames Caroline Kennedy as “living in fear” and includes unnamed sources which emphasizes sensational family alarm. Other outlets such as People, quote Caroline’s NYT interview as less alarmed and more nuanced, portraying that it can’t really be proved that she is “living in fear”. A lot of these sources may be overly sensationalized or focused on human-interest. Jack Schlossbegr’s own posts are also intentionally provocative and crafted to produce reactions.

Overall, this claim is factually correct that Jack Schlossberg is actively running for Congress in NY-12, but there isn’t clear evidence that his mother is that afraid and there is no credible evidence of Senator Chuck Schumer endorsing Schlossberg for his congressional run.
