This article assesses a widely-shared claim that Lebanon is being encroached upon by a new concrete wall built by Israel inside its territory. The article shows that the wall in question is actually being built behind the internationally-recognized “Blue Line”, on the Israeli side, and thus not on Lebanese land. The claim had been amplified by social media, and the fact-check helps correct a narrative that could inflame tensions in an already volatile region.

This claim is misleading and because of the lack of evidence to determine it being true or false. The article from The961 argues that the wall is behind the Blue Line and not on Lebanese land, but others are reporting that the exact location of the wall is still debated. UN officials reported that parts of the wall may cross the Blue Line, which would mean it enters Lebanese territory. Israeli officials disagree and say the wall is being built for security reasons and is completely on Israel's side of the boarder. More evidence from The961 article says the viral claim online is false and that the wall is being built behind the Blue Line. This article explains that social media posts and photos helped spread confusion about where the wall was actually located. In conclussion, the claim that the wall is definitely not on Lebanese land is misleading. While some sources say that the wall is entirely on Israel's side, others report that parts of it may cross the Blue Line. Because of these conflicting reports, the exact location of the wall is still unknown and still up for debate.

Wouldnʼt the claim be NA, not enough information, given a lack of public details surrounding this?

From diving in further about this claim I found that the widely shared claim that Israel built concrete wall inside Lebanese territory is misleading. Evidence shows that the wall is being constructed behind the internationally recognized Blue Line which marks the boundary monitored by the United Nations between Israel and Lebanon. This means the wall is being built on the Israeli side of the border and not inside Lebanon. The United Nations established the Blue Line in 2000 to confirm Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon. Maps and descriptions of this boundary show where construction would fall relative to Lebanese and Israeli territory. These documents help verify that the wall is located on the Israeli side of the line. Biases towards the UN could be that it aims to maintain peacekeeping credibility and may emphasize interpretations that support internationally recognized agreements and stability in the region. Overall, there is not enough information to say that Israel is intruding on Lebanon's territory with a wall.
