Trump is set to sue BBC because they misled and edited a speech that was delivered on January 6, 2021. Donald Trump is filing a lawsuit seeking 1 billion dollars and claimed that the media made him look "violent" and hurt his image. Trump's speech was delivered to his supporters claiming that the election was rigged and stolen and that his supporters should make their voices heard. He emphasized that republicans should "fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore."
Through this whole scandal BBC has since issued an apology to the president saying that they "unintentionally created the impression" (The Washington Post) that Trump was urging violence. BBC claims that they did not commit defamation and therefore does not owe him anything. However if Trump follows through and files a lawsuit, then BBC media will more than likely lose the lawsuit.
