ICE has increased activity since Trump took office, and is now being reported to be actively detaining people in San Diego who are at the green card office.

the claim present is that ICE is making arrests during green card interviews in the San Diego area. In the article the claim provided. It is from nbc which is a credible news reporting site. In addition, I found very similar information on another website from kpbs which is a public media organization from San Diego. The article interviewed different people than the nbc article but also mentioned how there were multiple arrests made while people were trying to go in for their green card interviews showing how this claim is true.

The claim presented is that ICE is arresting people during green card interviews. This claim is true, an article from NBC agreed with this claim saying that "detaining people during their interviews for legal status at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, a place that has traditionally not seen enforcement before". This article is referencing a particular story of a family whos son was arrested during his green card interview at a U.S Citizenship and Immigration Services. The story of this family is mentioned in many articles that were written about this topic. Many law firms websites also reported the same thing saying that "a pending immigration application doesn't guarantee safety" and that arrests at an immigration office are a very real possibility. This claim is accurate and talked about and agreed across various news and legal sources.

Your claim is that ICE is making arrests during green card interviews. In your original source, an NBC article, it explains how according to attorneys, ICE has made arrests at green card appointments in San Diego. Your source is credible, and unfortunately this claim is true. There is an article from KPBS, a San Diego public media broadcaster, talking about many different cases of this happening. An excerpt from this article reads, “The father of an autistic teenager. The wife of a Navy veteran. The mother of a 6-month-old. These are just a few of the people Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have arrested at green card appointments in San Diego this month, according to immigration lawyers in San Diego.” (Solis)

Not only has this been occurring in San Diego, but there are accounts of it happening across the United States. According to an article on NPR, a man in Miami was arrested at a routine immigration services office appointment. “Under the Biden administration immigrants like Josue, without a criminal record, used to be a low priority for arrest and deportation. But lawyers say they are seeing more on the spot arrests at immigration hearings. Immigration attorneys are now warning clients that they could be detained or deported when they show up for routine court hearings or appointments.” (Garsd) While in this case, the man who was deported didn’t have a green card, he was going through the legal process to hopefully receive one soon and the deportation order that was used against him was from 2018.
